Ormond Beach -

My Ormond Beach Vacation Experience

Ideally nestled between Flagler and Daytona Beaches, is Ormond Beach, Fl., where you will find the Royal Floridian Resort, a quiet, peaceful beach resort that offers the opportunity to relax and unwind from the daily stresses of life.

The Royal Floridian is a beautiful and contemporary resort located right on the ocean. As you arrive and walk through the lobby of the Royal Floridian, you catch a glimpse of the spacious lounge, heated indoor pool, game room, and a well-equipped exercise area. Throughout the resort, you will find plenty of activities to keep you active while you enjoy your vacation.

As you exit the lobby towards the back of the hotel, you are greeted by the soft winds coming off the ocean and you can see the Tiki bar, the pool, hot tub, plenty of chaise lounges with umbrellas and the beautiful views of the turquoise blue ocean. While outside overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, guests can enjoy a round of miniature golf, shuffleboard or a game of basketball. All without leaving the resort. Other on-site activities include the Wine & Cheese Bingo Social, the Milkshake Social, and Canvas Creations to keep you busy during your stay. Or simply take a stroll along the white sand beaches just steps from the Royal Floridian.

The contemporary, well-appointed rooms include balconies with ocean views, spacious kitchen areas, and comfortable seating areas.

Dining Recommendations

Dining options include Lulu’s Oceanside Grill located directly across the street from the resort. This casual restaurant offers burgers, salads, seafood, and drinks. The restaurant has an outdoor area where you can enjoy Karaoke several times a month. For a healthy option, you can visit Wild Rabbit Bistro located a short 5 minutes walking distance from the resort. Menu options include vegetable quesadilla, organic juices, smoothies, Quinoa bowl, and Peruvian Stuffed Avocado. Another option is the Thai Erawan restaurant that offers Pad Thai, Panang Chicken, and Volcano Shrimp.

Walking Distance from Royal Floridian

There are some wonderful places to visit in the area. Are you into car racing? Check out the Birthplace of Speed. Soon after the invention of the automobile, Ormond became known as the Birthplace of Speed. The beautiful oceanfront park has a gazebo with a lovely seating area. You can meander around the park and read plaques to learn about the history. You can also take a staircase that goes to the beach for picturesque views.

A short walking distance away is the Ormond Beach Memorial Gardens. There is an art gallery where you will find a variety of artwork. You can walk maze-like paths and take pictures of sunbathing turtles.

Take another short walk to The Casements. It’s the former home of John D. Rockefeller. You can take a free tour to learn about the history of the home and why it was named The Casements. Rockefeller loved car races and golfing. That’s what brought him to Ormond Beach in the summer months. This historical landmark has a long history of changes and offers amazing views of the park and ocean.

Go for a Short Drive

If you want to take a short 30-minute drive you will find Daytona Beach – a mecca for motorsports. Or you can visit the Ponce de Leon Inlet Lighthouse. For a small fee, you can climb to the top. You can also walk the grounds, visit the small gift shop and the Veterans Memorial on site.

For evening entertainment back at the resort you can go to the Todd Bogue Show. His unique combination of humor and magic will keep you laughing and asking for more. This is a big hit with all the guests.

And I would be remiss if I didn’t mention the spectacular views of the sunrise or sunset from the beach of the resort. This is a must-see. Bring your camera because the colors are spectacular.
