10+ Royal Floridian FAQ’s For You
Whenever planning a vacation, there are details we want to know in advance, right? Or questions we frequently ask upon arrival, to make our trip all that we envision. Maybe it has to do with local restaurants or the quickest route to a local attraction or how to access the complimentary Wi-Fi. For us at Spinnaker Resorts, naturally there are questions we are asked on a more frequent basis. I enlisted the help of some folks from different departments to tell me the top FAQ heard and answer them for me.
Alexis “Lexi” Bairstow, Regional General Manager, provided me with the top FAQs he has heard in Florida. On a later date, I’ll post a follow up blog including other FAQs that some other staff members relayed to me. Here are Lexi’s top FAQ’s:
Q: If I book at your resort online, am I guaranteed a view of the ocean?
A: Most timeshare exchange companies won’t guarantee a view. Although the majority of our units are Oceanfront, we also have Ocean View and City View units at our resorts. Online travel agencies such as Expedia or Hotwire will state the view.
Q: What is the difference between “Oceanfront”, “Ocean View” and “City View”?
A: An Oceanfront unit faces the ocean and has a balcony or patio on the ocean. An Ocean View unit will not face the ocean, but will have a balcony or patio with a partial view of the ocean (and with that comes those glorious ocean breezes)! City View units don’t face the ocean and don’t have balconies or patios. The Royal Floridian Resort has 115 units, and only 8 are city view (street-side).
Q: Do you have washers and dryers in the units?
A: The Royal Floridian Resort (RFR) units don’t have washers or dryers. RFR has coin operated laundry rooms on three of the seven floors. The Royal Floridian South (RFS) has in-unit washers and dryers.
Q: What is a “full kitchen”?
A: A “full kitchen” is a kitchen that has a refrigerator, range, microwave and dishwasher. The Royal Floridian Resort (RFR) units have efficiency-sized full kitchens. The Royal Floridian South (RFS) units have larger kitchens with island cooking areas with granite countertops.
Q: What is the difference between a “small studio” and a “large studio”?
A: Large and small studio units differ in three ways. 1) the kitchen facilities 2) the sofa and 3) the maximum capacity. A large studio has a full kitchen. A large studio also has a sleeper sofa and thus can sleep up to four people. A small studio has a mini fridge, toaster and a coffee pot. A small studio doesn’t have a living area with sofa and sleeps up to two people.
Q: Do you have beach access?
A: Yes! The resort is on the beach and has secured access to the beach via a beach access coded lock.
Q: I heard you can drive on the beach. Is this safe?
A: You can drive on the beach for a small fee (free with handicap placard). There are designated traffic and parking areas so that cars are not mixing with sunbathers and swimmers. The resort is situated at the beginning of the “beach driving zone”, therefore a traffic free beach is a mere 100 feet away.
Q: I have an emotional support animal (ESA) that is allowed in my apartment and on commercial airline flights. Will my ESA be allowed at the resort?
A: Although we certainly see the value and service that emotional support animals provide, the access rights in hotels and resorts differ from the access rights in housing and commercial airlines. ESA’s aren’t permitted at the resort.
Q: Why do we not give daily cleanings in the rooms?
A: Timeshares operate differently to hotel operations especially when it comes to the budgeting process. Assessment fees cover the initial cleaning for checkin and we offer a tidy service midweek. Fresh linens and towels are available 24/7 from the Front Desk for exchange with old or used linens. We do offer full service cleanings for a fee to those who wish to have full service.
Q: Can I have a late checkout?
A: Depending on the situation we can allow late checkouts and it’s normally no later than noon. It depends if the room you are in is scheduled for the next guest’s arrival that same day. If there is an arrival later that day, we need to give the housekeepers and other staff sufficient time to clean, inspect and repair any damages in the unit to prepare for the next guest.
Q: Can I bring a boat, trailer or jet skis to the resort?
A: Due to maximum occupancy levels between Memorial Day and Labor Day, additional parking for trailers, boats or jet skis is prohibited. During the remaining months of the year, ONLY RESORT OWNERS are permitted to bring a boat, trailer, RV or jet skis. This will be based on a first come first serve basis only. Written approval from the Resort General Manager (Alexis “Lexi” Barstow) is required as there is limited space available. Failure to obtain written approval will result in denial of additional parking.
