Spring comes early along coastal South Carolina and visitors to Hilton Head Island can expect mild and mostly dry temperatures as the seasons change. There's no better place for beach days, family-friendly attractions, and gorgeous scenery than the island of Hilton Head. Enjoy the sandy shores, charming beaches, and outdoor attractions that make Hilton Head an ideal destination for spring fun. And don’t forget to check out all the exciting dolphin activities we have lined up for you and your family this season.

It’s a local's secret that many do not like to share: The best time to visit Hilton Head is April and May. Spring offers fewer crowds while maintaining temperatures that are still beach friendly.

The resort staff have been working hard throughout the winter preparing the resort condos and amenities in anticipation of your return. We hope to see you soon!

LOCAL NEWS

While the Harbour Town Springfest, the Hilton Head Wingfest and the Hilton Head Food and Wine Festival have passed, there is still much to do this spring in Hilton Head. The biggest event of the year is coming up. The only PGA TOUR event in SC, the RBC Heritage has been played on Hilton Head Island since 1969. Its host, the Heritage Classic Foundation, donates Tournament proceeds to charitable organizations in the Lowcountry. The RBC Heritage is broadcast in 28 languages to 197 countries outside the US. More than 1 billion households across the world can tune in to see Harbour Town's famous candy cane striped lighthouse. The tournament will be held April 11-17 this year.

Held at the Coastal Discovery Museum in April, the Art Market is a fine arts and crafts show. This annual event brings over 90 talented artists from around the country to Hilton Head. If you're looking for the perfect souvenir from your vacation, this is the place to find it!

In May, the Harbour Town Yacht Basin will host the annual Yacht Hop. Guests at this fun event will come aboard docked yachts to sample spectacular hors d'oeuvres prepared by some of Hilton Head's finest chefs. The fundraiser will also feature live music, a silent auction, a live auction, dessert, and a champagne toast. Proceeds from the event will benefit Hospice Care of the Lowcountry.

There is so much to do in Hilton Head this spring. Enjoy the spring concert series at Shelter Cove, Easter events and other spring celebrations. At nearby Bluffton, you can enjoy the annual Taste of Bluffton food festival.

FEATURED RESORT IMPROVEMENTS

Throughout the year we are always busy improving your facilities and villas. What follows is a recap of the work that was completed or started over the past few months.

Egret Point

Interior ceilings were repaired, and insulation was installed in several three-bedroom villas
All patios were pressure washed and cleaned
New barbecue grills were installed between Building 4200 and 4300
Water heater was replaced in villa 4533
Ridge vents were installed on roofs of Buildings 4200, 4300, 4400, and 4500
Annual fire sprinkler and backflow inspections were completed

Southwind

Villa entry stair repairs were continued with new wood installed and repainted
New blind install was completed in all villas
Furniture touch up was performed
Villa 3326 ceilings and stairwells were retextured and painted
Pressure washed all patios and decking
Replaced all villa door mats
Annual fire sprinkler and backflow inspections completed

Cottages

Replacement of entry stairs and back decks continued
Water heaters were replaced for villas 117 and 127
Ceilings, wall, and stair repairs to villas 53, 134, 145, 150, 152, and 154
Pressure washed decks and patios with wood repair addressed where needed
Villas 44-54 front and back doors were sanded and painted
Grills were replaced at the pools

New stairs at the Cottages to ease your entry

Carolina Club

Pressure washed decks and patios with wood repair addressed where needed
Water heater was replaced in villa 124

Bluewater

Building 6400 tree trimming was completed to protect building and enhance view from villas
Replaced landscaping by the cabana at the Lazy River Pool
New rod holsters installed at the dock

Waterside

Building 5100 deck stairs, front and back, were repaired and re-stained
Building 5200 and 5800 elevators were modernized including new cab interiors
Building 5200 through 5800 all had new flat roof systems installed
Building 5800 elevator modernization and replacement was completed
Replaced main pool activities cabana featuring heating for winter months and fans for warmer weather
Resurfaced the main pool deck
Pool side grill area got a facelift with new stucco applied
Entire property laid with new asphalt application

Dolphin Camp

Starting in June and going into August, we will be offering a three-hour Dolphin Camp at Bluewater Resort and Marina. The camp is open to all guests staying at all HHI Spinnaker properties, not just Bluewater guests. Guests will just need to take their children to BW to take part in the camp. Dolphin Camp is for ages 8-13 and $30 per child. We will have camp from 9:00am-12:00 pm Wednesdays. Guests need to take their children to BW to take part in the camp. Dolphin Count

In honor of Earth Day (week), we will be holding a Lowcountry Marine Mammal Network (LMMN) Dolphin Count event on Friday, April 22. This event will help us begin building the data of our local dolphins that has never been collected in our area before! Guests will be asked to volunteer as dolphin spotters at various Count Stations around Hilton Head. They will be observing and counting how many dolphins they see within a half hour at 12:30 pm, 1:30 pm and 2:30 pm and putting this data into the LMMN database. They may sign up for one to three hours of observation and data collection and we will assign them an observation location somewhere on HHI. Click here to reserve your spot.

Dolphin Cruises

We will be enhancing our bi-weekly dolphin cruises on Tuesdays and Thursdays from Bluewater to include data and citizen science experiences. The data our guests collect during the dolphin cruises will be sent to National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). This is an important source of data collection for Hilton Head Island. Guests will soon be able to log on to see our data maps which will be updated monthly. Guests may sign up for the Dolphin Cruises while at the resorts as they always have utilizing our QR code registration system on our elevator boards and activities schedules or through the links in the Digital Villa Directory.

Dolphin Talks

The Lowcountry Marine Mammal Network volunteers will be offering a weekly Dolphin talk from June to August. The Dolphin Talk is free to all Spinnaker guests and does not require prior registration. Dates and Times and locations of the weekly Dolphin Talks will be in the resort activity schedule.

We encourage all Owners to provide plenty of lead time when booking or banking their usage. We don't want you to miss out on your desired vacation.
