Dear Ormond Beach Spinnaker Owners,

This summer has been a wonderful success with more Owners taking advantage of their “home away from home” by vacationing in beautiful Ormond Beach! Warm temperatures, blue seas, and white sands greeted all of the wonderful Owners who were able to travel. Thank you once again to all of you for your support to your Associations and for sharing such wonderful feedback about the staff and resort properties! As many of you are aware the Royal Floridian continues on the path of renovating all units over four phases with two phases complete and the third phase to begin early December 2019. Your feedback on this project has been tremendous and greatly appreciated.

As I write this message, the teams in Ormond Beach and Hilton Head Island have just finished setting the resorts back up for occupancy after Hurricane Dorian passed by our coastlines. Fortunately, we were blessed to not have experienced any damage and the resorts are back to normal operation only after a few days of Dorian passing. The preparation required before a Hurricane arrival is significant and I can’t thank the teams enough in both FL and SC for an amazing performance in protecting your Associations and the effort given to restore normal operation post storms. I am extremely proud of everyone and their efforts and I sincerely hope that no more storms pass for many years to come! Our thoughts and prayers are with those that weren't so fortunate and were affected by Dorian. We look forward to providing you with great vacations for the remainder of this year and for many years to come.

The New Beachside Starbucks

The new Starbucks on beachside is now open for business! The drive-thru lane doesn’t have menus, yet. If you are going use the drive-thru make sure you know what you want in advance. If you prefer to walk, it takes about 3 minutes to get to Starbucks from Royal Floridian.

Resort Improvement Project - Continuation

Efforts to continually improve your "home away from home" continue again this fall. Starting early December, Southwind Management Corp will undertake phase three of the ongoing refurbishment and renovation project of the Royal Floridian. Your Board of Directors has approved to continue with the planned renovations for a third straight year. This next phase includes the top three floors of the South side of the building and consists of 26 units. When phase three is completed in early February 2020, 75% of resort units will have been updated with the intent to complete the remaining units the following winter.

Below are the details of unit refurbishment and renovations that will be completed by February 2020:

  • New full size stoves and addition of garbage disposals
  • New granite countertops in kitchens and bathrooms
  • Replacement of kitchen and bathroom cabinets
  • New drapery, artwork, and lighting
  • New living room furniture - sofas, armchairs, coffee tables, end tables, and TV stands
  • New Spinnaker standard carpet and paint color scheme
  • Flooring upgrades
  • Bathroom upgrades - granite counters, cabinets, taller toilets and walk in showers
  • Replacement of closet doors with new sliding mirror doors

Bathroom Refurbishment - New granite counters, cabinets, taller toilets and walk in showers

Living Room and Kitchen Refurbishment - New furniture, flooring, granite island counter and seating

Royal Floridian Resort Improvements

  • New emergency generator is installed
  • New fire alarm and safety systems are installed
  • New emergency lighting is installed and testing performed

Royal Floridian South

The Royal Floridian South Board has approved a project this fall to work on front doors (and door jams) to the Villas. As some of you may have noticed the doors and front door frames need constant maintenance. Replacement of these systems would be the desired solution. This fall Southwind Management Corporation will work with a General Contracting firm to remove six-door systems and replace with a superior product. It is the intent of the Board to find a long-term solution and update all remaining Villa doors in the future

Royal Floridian South Improvements

  • New emergency lighting is installed and testing performed
  • New surveillance camera system installment is in progress

Ceramic Pumpkins

You’re invited! We are painting ceramic pumpkins in the South Gathering Room on Saturdays. The ceramic pumpkins are two different sizes and you can paint them or decorate any way you like. Paint colors and glitter will be provided to make your pumpkin sparkle!

Canvas Creations

We are so excited to bring a new activity for you this fall! Let’s welcome Pat Spano. She will show you the Canvas Creations. All the materials will be provided and there are two canvas sizes (11×14 or 16×20) to choose from. This is a great way to relax and paint a beautiful creation on your vacation.

The Casements

Did you know that John Rockefeller used to vacation in Ormond Beach? Please join us this fall on a walk to the Casements, which is the former home of John Rockefeller. You can go on a guided tour and learn the history of the home and Ormond Beach. We look forward to seeing you!
