Under the direction and general supervision of the Maintenance Manager and the Assistant Maintenance Manager, Painters are responsible for performing a variety of tasks daily throughout the units, buildings and property.  Painters must have the overall knowledge of various paints and what products to use for particular tasks.  This role will also perform daily duties, including the following: touching up units with scuff marks, painting porches, staining decks, painting the interior and exterior of Resort buildings, stripping wallpaper, maintaining equipment and performing additional duties and tasks as assigned. 


 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Ensures paint supplies are fully stocked and ready for weekly tasks.
  2. Notifies the Maintenance Manager when supplies are low.
  3. Coordinates the weekly projects with the Maintenance Manager and the Assistant Maintenance Manager.
  4. Completes all work orders or projects in a precise, timely and efficient manner.
  5. Ensure all assigned units are being painted weekly and completed in a timely manner.
  6. Maintains the painting of porches, foyer doors, foyer walls and the exteriors of the buildings on property.
  7. Ensures that all decks are pressure washed and stained (if applicable).
  8. Monitors radio calls between/with the Dispatch Office and assists/responds to calls as needed.
  9. Completes any Housekeeping tickets where touch-ups are required.
  10. Maintains accurate work records and logs these records according to departmental procedures.
  11. Monitors the use and inventory levels of paint product at all times.
  12. Maintains and stores painting equipment, tools and brushes in a neat and orderly manner.
  13. Cleans and maintains all painting equipment, tools and brushes daily, using approved chemicals and cleaners.
  14. Keeps work areas clean and well organized.
  15. Reports any issues with paint, spillage, or incorrect colors, for example, to the Maintenance Manager or Assistant Maintenance Manager.
  16. Ensures that all company vehicles and/or golf carts used by Painters are maintained properly.
  17. Assists the Maintenance Department with special projects or tasks as needed.
  18. Ensures that all SDC Properties’ policies and procedures are adhered to and are followed daily.
  19. Performs and completes all work assigned in a safe and professional manner, according to safety rules and regulations.
  20. Participates in departmental staff meetings.
  21. Performs additional duties or tasks, from those set forth above, to address the business needs and changing business practices as directed by their Supervisor.
  22. Must be punctual with a positive attitude.
  23. Complies and enforces our grooming and appearance standards.
  24. Ensures proper work attire is worn by adhering to the Painters’ dress code daily.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  1. Must possess a High School Diploma or GED.
  2. Must possess at least 2 or more years of skilled Painting experience; Current or previous experience in the Hospitality industry preferred.
  3. Should have the knowledge of the standard practices, techniques and methods of the painting trade and should be skilled in the usage of these skills.
  4. Should have the knowledge of safety precautions and the proper methods of using ladders and must be proficient in the usage of them.
  5. Should have the knowledge of interior and exterior painting, staining, and associated preparation work and should be skilled in the usage of.
  6. Should have the knowledge of the skills involved to mix paint, match and blend colors and skilled in the usage of.
  7. Should have the knowledge of light equipment and manual tools and skilled in the operation of these.
  8. Should have knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions and procedures and be aware of best practices.
  9. Should have knowledge of fire systems and the ability to respond to alarms.
  10. Ability to complete work assignments without the use of painter’s tape.
  11. Ability to complete all work orders or projects in a precise, timely and efficient manner.
  12. Ability to supervise, train and provide leadership to Paint crew.
  13. Must have effective problem-solving skills and must be able to make decisions individually and within a team setting.
  14. Ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply rules and regulations in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  15. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with peers, employees, and Management.
  16. Ability to deal effectively with conflict and manage difficult employee relations situations.
  17. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  18. Ability to multi-task, follow-up, exhibit initiative and be a self-starter.
  19. Ability to assist and support others.
