The Groundskeeper is responsible for performing a variety of skilled trade work involved with operating light and heavy power equipment.  These activities include: performing cutting of the grass, trash pick-up, mulching, planting, maintaining grills, watering, trimming of bushes/hedges and other necessary grounds activities as directed.



  1. Maintain and water all vegetation in general common areas on the resort property.
  2. Ensure bushes and hedges are trimmed to maintain the appearance of SDC Properties.
  3. Make daily trash runs throughout the complex and transport trash to dumpsters.
  4. Mow grass on property and in median area on Rt. 199.
  5. Ensure weeds around buildings, flower beds, and along the streets are sprayed or pulled daily.
  6. Maintain flower beds by planting flowers according to the season.
  7. Ensure all furniture, including pool furniture is organized and maintained in a straight and orderly manner.
  8. Ensure the maintenance of common area grills weekly.
  9. Maintain a clean environment around Club House, The Aquatic Center and swimming pool areas, including removal of trash from receptacles and cigarette debris from ash urns.
  10. Make periodic tours throughout complex to ensure debris is removed from all common areas.
  11. Monitor the use and inventory of spare parts, maintenance supplies, and equipment and initiate reordering when necessary.
  12. Maintain accurate work records and logs according to department procedure.
  13. Keep work areas clean and well organized and complete work assignments in a neat and efficient manner.
  14. Assist with any maintenance requirements as needed.
  15. Ensure SDC Properties policies and procedures are followed.
  16. Perform and complete all work assigned safely and professionally according to safety rules and regulations.
  17. Participate in departmental staff meetings.
  18. Participate in all training sessions as offered by company.


  1. Must possess a High School Diploma or GED.
  2. Must have one or more years of prior experience working as a Groundskeeper or in Landscaping.
  3. Knowledge of tools, materials, methods and practices used in skilled and semi-skilled trade related to grounds.
  4. Knowledge of manual tools and heavy/light power equipment and skilled in the operation of.
  5. Knowledge of landscaping expectations and requirements.
  6. Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions and procedures; proficient in the practice of.
  7. Ability to complete all work orders or projects in a timely and efficient manner (i.e., guest calls and routine ground procedures).
  8. Ability to problem-solve and make decisions individually and within a team.
  9. Ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply rules and regulations in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  10. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with peers, employees, and management.
