Fall Festivals Not to Miss This Season
Oh fall, how sweet it is to have your cool air after such a humid summer! How about you? Are you happy the fall season is here? What do you look forward to the most about fall? Do the leaves turn rust-colored hues where you live? Does the air turn crisp with its inviting coolness? Are the evenings spent in commune around a crackling fire? Pumpkin patches, hay rides, spooky Halloween decor, pumpkin-flavored everything, snuggles and soup, cozy knit socks, flannel shirts and seasonal ales… Fall brings so many pleasant activities and memories to make! The mild fall weather is the perfect atmosphere for festivals!
Two weekends ago was the 1st annual Boiled Peanut Festival in Bluffton. That may sound a bit southern, but yes, we are southern. There are other festivals still ahead you need to know about! Here’s a few coming up this fall to the Hilton Head Island area:
Captain Woody’s Oyster Roast (Hilton Head) – Saturday 10/3, 11/7, 2/6, 3/5 4-7 p.m. Fresh oysters, oyster burgers, hot dogs, happy hour specials and live music.
Tybee Pirate Fest – 10/8-10/11 (Savannah) – All day festival with a pirate parade, pirate bands, pirate booty to purchase, pirate food and plenty of pirate costumed young and old!
Historic Bluffton Arts & Seafood Festival (Bluffton) – 10/23-11/1 – Various festival events highlighted by a juried art show featuring over 100 regional artists of different mediums throughout the week. The festival spans two days and includes a street celebration with food from different vendors and live music.
The Savannah Food & Wine Festival (Savannah) – 11/9-11/15 A plethora of upscale foodie events. This year Taste of Savannah is hosting a pre-festival event dubbed the World’s Largest Lowcountry Boil on Saturday 11/7 on Hutchinson Island on the SC side of the Talmadge Bridge. This record attempt begins at 4:30 p.m. The signature event will be hosted 11/14 from 1-5 p.m. at Georgia State Railroad Museum and will not disappoint!
Hilton Head Oyster Festival (Hilton Head) – 11/7-11/9 – Shelter Cove Park will come alive 11-5 p.m. with oysters every way you can eat them, live entertainment, kid zone, marshmallow roasting and even football viewing on the big screen!
Habersham Harvest Fest (Beaufort) – 10/24 Free admission and fun for all ages. Picturesque backdrop of historic Habersham in Beaufort, SC with good festival food, crafts, entertainment, rides and activities.
Hilton Head Island Motoring Festival & Concours d’Elegance (Hilton Head & Savannah) – 10/23-11/1 Hutchinson Island (Savannah) hosts the first leg of the festival 10/23-11/25 with a unique race experience. The Motoring festival ends on Hilton Head 10/30-11/1 with a jaw-dropping display and auction of motoring vessels from two-wheels to planes to boats to cars.
Taste of the Season (Hilton Head) – 11/20 6-9 p.m. Experience culinary excellence from the Lowcountry’s top chefs and enjoy on-site preparation.
Harvest Fest (Savannah) – 11/6-11/7 – Regional craft beer tastings, arts and crafts exhibitors with live country music on stage all weekend long along River Street. Enjoy fireworks both nights over the river front.
